NETA Members and Alliance Partners Take Advantage of Golden Opportunity
Portage, Michigan, October 8, 2014 - NETA hosted the first NETA Member and Alliance Partner event at a venue other than PowerTest on September 10, 2014, in San Francisco, California. Set in the heart of the city next to the Pacific Ocean and the Golden Gate Bridge, this evening event included a technical presentation on best testing practices for molded-case circuit breakers that led into an open exchange of information, ideas, and insights into various aspects of this subject from many different points of view within the industry. More than 30 people, from NETA Accredited Companies, Alliance Partners, and various manufacturers of molded-case circuit breakers attended the event.
The presentation acted as a springboard for questions and technical discussions, with attendees contributing technical and anecdotal information to the conversation. The origin and application of time-current curves were discussed, as were common issues faced by field-testing technicians and manufacturers. Industry standards that address molded-case circuit breakers such as NEMA AB-4, IEEE 1458, ANSI/NETA MTS, and ANSI/NETA ATS were also discussed with relation to the application of these standards in the field. A lot of common ground was established with the understanding that the ultimate goal is to provide safe and reliable equipment and systems to the end user. It was understood that it takes a concerted effort from all parties involved in an installation to make that happen. It was a great event, and NETA hopes to continue to host this type of event and that bring various segments of the electrical industry together.
